Summary
The star in me provides full-stack professional development services to multinational firms through a collaborative learning platform. As organizations place greater importance on developing an infinite learning culture as a means of retaining talent and building future leaders, there is a growing demand for scalable and effective learning solutions. With their ecosystem of over 90 global experts, The star in me has successfully delivered learning solutions to 30,000 professionals across 25 countries.
When we were colleagues at Cognizant as Consulting Directors, we used to attend leadership offsites. In most of these offsites, we were the only two women amongst 70+ APAC leaders. While we were aware of the gender gap in leadership, these incidents highlighted the problem and ignited the idea for ‘The star in me’.
We initially built a platform for women professionals to learn, network and seek advice. While the platform had no subscription fee, women could avail leadership masterclasses, mentoring, coaching for a fee.
We did not see much traction from women talent, we could attract ~9000 women from several countries on the platform with around 1% paying customers. But organizations got interested in our service offerings. They were keen to build their pipeline of women leaders and engaged us.
Owing to the success of the cohort-based programs, organizations wanted to make these programs gender-agnostic. We then began to execute programs for professionals across levels & geographies.
We have built a niche in Cohort-based learning solutions and see a huge market among MNC organizations. We are now working on creating technology-enabled models to scale our venture.
Problem
Sales leaders implement CRMs, but sales reps, who have to enter data, treat it as a distraction and don’t fill up data. Without data, leaders are not able to make right forecasts or analyse pipeline deeply. Further, even the reps who fill up the data end up spending substantial part of their day in filling up data eating into time they can spending in actually selling.
Solution
We want to solve the problem through a managed platform for cohort-based learning solutions that fosters collaborative learning and real-world problem solving. The cutting-edge learning platform will help organizations create a strategic advantage embedding an infinite learning culture. The industry-leading experts on our platform and signature programs will equip professionals with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing economic landscape.
We experimented with several service offerings and engagement models while exercising prudence with our spend. By doing this, we designed a suite of corporate learning solutions that:
• Are experiential.
• Cater to employees across levels.
• Have customizable components.
• Leverage 90+ global experts.
• Leverage B-school partnerships.
Our current solution is delivered through a white-labeled collaborative learning platform. We have created a library of assets which includes Competency assessments, pre-designed leadership programs, masterclass videos and articles. We tested our solution with 20+ corporates resulting in Net promoter score of 80+., hence confirming an effective Proof of Concept.
